Hang on to your Hat … No one will be writing a sonnet about my Easter bonnet. As a little girl I always felt my Easter outfit was incomplete without a hat, and every year I begged my mother to buy me one. Though she was a tough sell, she usually gave in to my badgering. Hat in hand, I would happily anticipate Easter Sunday. Only on Easter Sunday would I remember the idea of wearing a hat, and the actual wearing of said hat are two completely different things. I kept trying, though, and even took a few stabs at wearing an Easter hat as an adult.
Confessions of a Chronic Laugher … Okay, I admit it. I’m a habitual laugher. I laugh a lot: at home, at work, at church, in public, in private, in groups and when by myself. I laugh at jokes, snide remarks, funny faces, weird noises and the occasional instance of someone falling down (but I totally stop if I can see they are injured). I am the person who, when texting “LOL,” is literally laughing out loud!
Seven Things To Do During March! … Look at us! We have made it to March 2021! As we enter this glorious month, the official birth month of springtime, I am reminded of all that has to happen during the fall in order to circle us back to this time of new beginnings. The leaves must change colors and then wither to the ground in order for new ones to bloom and flourish and become the new and beautiful sights that decorate the season.

Life is full of challenges. We can see some of them coming and therefore steady ourselves as we prepare for the impact. However, some of them show up out of nowhere, surprising us with no rhyme or reason, offering us a choice. On some level, we may actually seek challenges. We want to learn and grow, and it seems life’s most effective tool for growth appears in the form of our experiences. But with these, what do we co-create with that reality? What awareness do we develop because of it? What glimpse of our highest self does this give us?
Being a bride in the year 2020 was definitely unforgettable. As a young girl, you dream of having the most elaborate, beautiful wedding, with a great number of family and friends there to witness one of the most memorable days of your life. For us, that all drastically changed in a matter of months. … Our love story began in the summer of 2015. There was something about that southern drawl, and I just couldn’t steer myself away. I grew up in the city and loved the night life of Dallas and Fort Worth.
The debate lives on to this day. Did we meet at Chili’s, on State Line or at the bowling alley on a night out with friends? Neither of us can quite remember, but we know we were in each other’s lives before we even spoke. When our friends Ray and Joy Sandefur were married in 2016, we were both in attendance, dressed in coordinating colors as part of their bridal party. Will claims to have wanted to dance with me that night, but asked a mutual friend instead. I would never change our love story now, but looking back, I can’t help but wonder if our timeline could have happened much sooner.

Kentrell and I both attended school in Texarkana—he attended Texas High and I attended Liberty-Eylau. We met through mutual friends. When we first started communicating, he lost interest quickly because I was a firecracker and a wild child. He says I was doing way too much for him, and I laugh at this story all the time. We are completely different. He is very much an introvert and prefers to communicate with a smaller crowd of people. I am an extrovert.
