Getting Technical About Fitness

In the realm of sports, the need for coaches and athletes to track progress is essential. Luckily for athletes, today’s technology makes it possible to track almost any health-related statistic. … In 2015, Apple launched the Apple Watch. I drank hot tea for the very first time in my whole life the day I took the picture for this article. I felt so fancy. I’m a Texan, so the only tea I have ever known is obviously Chicken Express sweet tea, and if you don’t agree that’s the best sweet tea, don’t even talk to me. Never in a million years did I imagine I’d be drinking this wonderful, warm jasmine tea from Local Habit Coffee Co., or that I’d actually be enjoying it! It felt foreign to me, but it was also a nice, deep, long hug to me on that cold day.

Ryan Yarnell was born and raised in Texarkana, Texas, by parents William Yarnell and Jeanette McLeod. Like many in northeast Texas, the outdoors began calling his name at a very early age. When he was eight or nine years old, Ryan’s dad took him hunting for the first time in the green timber woods of East Texas. His dad and uncles were the first people to show him the ropes, and he has been a fixture in the sport ever since. … In a blessed nation full of grocery stores, well stocked with a variety of quality meats, hunting is not like it was for the hunters of generations past.

While I have confidently stated in the past that I truly thrive during the summer, and I still hold firmly to that statement, I must face the fact that when it comes to summer clothing, unless you are a size zero and can comfortably show some skin, it is just harder to dress to impress than it is in winter months! I would very much enjoy the ease of less clothing if I was not sporting a gut. Maybe I should just cut out fast food to solve this problem, but that is not really an option I am interested in. … I have a much better solution to the winter wardrobe blues.

What’s in a Name?

College athletics has essentially been unchanged since the beginning of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in 1906. … A scholarship was awarded to an athlete to cover their education.

Just last month, I was honored to sing a song I wrote for my close friends, Abby and Joe, on their wedding day. It was a simple, beautiful day in New Boston, Texas, at Four Fifteen Estates, one of the most gorgeous, awe-inspiring wedding venues I have ever seen! While I enjoyed myself that day, and I will never forget the moment I looked down, singing above my dear friends, strumming my guitar during their first dance, something just felt off for me.

I remember exactly where I was the day I got a text from my friend, Sarah Cooper, that Heritage Home Health & Hospice had created a new job position, the first of its kind. She thought I would be perfect for the job. You rock, Sarah! She told me I should apply for the job as soon as possible, but I was nervous. Up until this point, I had only worked retail jobs. What the heck did I know about home health or hospice? It was 2020, and I felt pretty lost at the time, just wandering aimlessly through life. I was trying to find some solid footing.

National Read a Book Day: What Are You Reading?

Happy National Read A Book Day! … One of my favorite questions to ask anyone I encounter is, "what are you reading?" Alternatively, it is one of my favorite questions to answer as well. Most of the time, I have an audiobook going and a book in hand. Currently: listening to Present Over Perfect by Shauna Neiquist and reading The Summer of Broken Rules by K.L.Walther. … It is no secret that I listen to most of the books I read. I heard an episode of the Armchair Expert podcast hosted by Dax Shepard and Monica Padman that completely shifted my mindset.

Peace, Love, and Pickleball

With the popularity of pickleball on the rise, this homeowner could not help but combine her family’s love for tennis with the recent pickleball craze to build a pickleball court in their backyard. According to USA Pickleball, 4.8 million Americans play pickleball, and the sport has gained double-digit growth every year for the past five years.
