Step into the Woodman residence, where the past meets the present in a seamless blend of nostalgia and modernity. This 1976 home, originally crafted by Margaret and George Bull, has undergone a thoughtful renovation that honors its rich history while infusing it with fresh energy. Over the course of 13 months, the Woodmans meticulously remodeled and added onto the home, preserving many of the original fixtures, cabinets, and wallpaper while breathing new life into these classic elements.

If These Tables Could Talk

Talk Tuesday in Print … Sure, there have been some good meals shared, but when the food is all cleared away, it’s the conversation around these tables that has been invaluable. From childhood to my teenage years and now, raising my own family, the table still stands as the focal point in my home and my heart. Memories have been made, lessons have been learned, and family has come together—all around the table. … I grew up next door to my grandparents. It is a blessing that I wouldn’t trade for anything.

Every neighborhood has “that” neighbor—the one whose choices cause the rest of the block to cringe a little. Maybe they leave their trash cans out too long, their lawn is not manicured as neatly as the others, they have campers and boats parked in the driveway, or they have a dog that greets every passerby with endless barking. You know the type. The real surprise, however, comes when you realize you might be that neighbor. I adore my neighborhood and its people, but I am not sure they feel the same way about us. … Just last week, during her morning walk, one of my neighbors sent me a text:

Dear Mrs. (Slightly) Sophisticated

Dear Mrs. Slightly Sophisticated, I love watching my son play football, but some parents around me yell at the referees like they are auditioning for a reality show. How can I tell them to chill out without becoming the next viral video?Sincerely, Ref-Rescue Ranger … Dear Ref-Rescue Ranger, … The shortest path to stopping that in its tracks is by simply bringing a black-and-white striped shirt for them to wear since they apparently know everything. But this will also lead to you not having friends. … That being said, children learn by example from you and your real friends.

Pleasant Grove's New Facility Focus on Relationships, Growth, Discipline, and Belief … Pleasant Grove has had a lot to be proud of under the direction of head coach Josh Gibson, and many would say that the new athletic facility may just be the biggest achievement yet. It’s state-of-the-art in every way, but to Coach Gibson, the most important part is how the facility can serve the kids. “Probably one of the most important pieces is right when we walk in the door. In the foundation, there is a Bible that was placed here when they were pouring the slab.

Teen Slang … Feeling lost or confused trying to understand your teens? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. With unfamiliar words constantly emerging from music, the internet, apps, and celebrities, as well as regional slang, keeping up with the latest teen slang is nearly impossible. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and lost when listening to your children or grandchildren speak, and it can get even more confusing when you read their social media posts and hashtags.

It’s that time of year again, to set the alarm clock and get back into routines. Personally, I enjoy the structure of the school year because it keeps me on track. Don’t get me wrong, I welcome summer break by the time May rolls around, but in August, when the heat is making me feel like a roasted marshmallow, I’m ready for some structure. … Our summer was a mix of memorable moments, some medical bills, and plenty of time golfing and on the lake.
