The Perfect Homecoming Look

What makes the perfect homecoming look? There are so many factors that go into creating the perfect look for homecoming, or really any special occasion. Homecoming 2021 style is a mixture of sequins, beading, asymmetrical necklines, neon colors and even stars! This year is also characterized by the simple, more traditional looks that we have seen in past years, such as lace and the classic little black dress. Truth be told, anything goes this season! Homecoming 2021 is a matter of personal style!

Polka Dots, a Chevy... and Forever

In February 1950, twenty-one-year-old James Stanley was walking out of the movie theater when he first saw Donna June Beck from afar. The two were separated by a crowd of people, but when she met his gaze, both claim to have been immediately interested in the other.

Each year, as August ends and September rolls around, people everywhere re-acclimate to the flow of school. House on a Hill

Walking the halls of the most beautiful homes in Texarkana is awe-inspiring. But hearing the stories of the families who daily walk those halls is truly inspirational. For Kelli and Jeff Phillips, their ranch-style home on 50 acres is a magnificent sight to see. Rolling hills, beautiful views out every window and the peaceful setting of country living, minutes from the conveniences of town, embody the space they now call their forever home. … Their story begins like most: “We met at Legends Gym,” Jeff said cunningly. “Every day she would come in and start her little workout.

Even Then: A Reminder to My Teenage ChildWell, here we are at the stage of your life I have simultaneously anticipated with excitement but also feared to the Nth degree. I think I have had these feelings because I can still so vividly remember what it was like to be a teenager. Your infancy, toddler and small childhood consisted of your father and me shooting from the hip when relating to you because we had little to no memory of what it was like to be a baby.

Coffee Pots, Baby Gates… and GrandparentsYou know those coffee pots that have a timer you can set the night before? We have one and it brings me such joy. I make the coffee each night before I go to bed and set a timer for it to brew at 6:30 every morning. It’s as if I have a little gift greeting me each morning, smelling lovely in its carafe fullness, saying, “Good morning, Liz. I hope you slept well. Here, I made this for you. Pour yourself a cup and let’s do this thing.” I don’t realize how much I love it until it’s broken, or I fail to set the timer and wake up to an empty pot.

Publisher's Letter

Our family has embarked on a new and exciting journey. We have welcomed a new member to our crew! In early August, a 15-year-old German boy flew across the globe to join our family and live in Texarkana for the next eleven months as an exchange student! … People have asked me, “How in the world did this all come about?” I credit my friend Lacey McCulloch for helping to make it all fall into place. While spending the day together, Lacey mentioned she had received a text from Jayme English about hosting an exchange student.

Special Advertising Section Sponsored by Farmer's Bank & TrustA home is so much more than a place to stay. … If we are lucky, our homes are a place of safety and refuge from a world that can sometimes be stressful.
