The 7th CASA Colorful 5K & Family Fun Run was help on Saturday, April 24 at Trinity Baptist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas. The race began with each participant releasing a bag of color into the air creating a beautiful burst of color. Stations were located throughout the race route and showered with brightly colored powder, turning the race into a color explosion.
The 2nd Annual Walking for Williams was held on Sunday, April 25 at Williams Memorial United Methodist Church and benefited the Williams School. This family focused event took place outdoors on the church grounds with fun for all.
Leadership Texarkana celebrated local excellence in community leadership at their annual Lunch with Leaders at Texarkana, TX Convention Center on April 20th, with the awarding of the organization’s Leader of The Year Award, as well as honoring community leaders through Leadership Texarkana’s annual Wilbur Awards. The luncheon was sponsored by Texarkana Emergency Center and Hospital.
On April 15, Bowie County supporters, friends and family gathered to celebrate the extravagant grand opening event of Four Fifteen Estates. A new wedding venue nestled in the woods on the outskirts of New Boston, Texas. While enjoying wine and the delicious food provided by Jeff Loving, guests were able to take a tour.
… On April 1, 2021 local volunteers and community members joined the Texarkana Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA for Children Texarkana in taking a stand against child abuse through a live video on their Facebook pages with the Save Jane event. … Leaders from the Texarkana community read the names and ages of over 1,100 children who were reported as abused and received services through the Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA in 2020. Because these children are minors and their identities must be protected, “Jane Doe” and “John Doe” were used in place of their names.
The Margaret Fischer Davis Elementary School Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held on March 1, 2021 at 4:30 PM. The staff, local community leaders and the community joined to celebrate the opening of the new elementary that opened in November 2020. The building was made possible by a nearly $20 million bond election approved by voters in 2018 and named in honor of Margaret Fischer Davis, who served as superintendent of the for 20 years.
The 10th Annual Gayble Moss Memorial Tennis Tournament was held Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27 at Texas High School indoor courts. The annual tennis tournament was rescheduled from its previous October date. French Open Champion, Luke Jenson was on site to take part in the event celebrating Gayble Moss. All proceeds benefited the Gayble Moss Scholarship Fund at St. James Day School. Luke Jenson who is the 1993 French Open doubles title winner and current ESPN commentator will be back October 15 and 16, 2021 for the 11th Annual Gayble Moss Tennis Tournament.
The 12th Annual Women for the Arts and For Arts' Sake Gift Shop Holiday Open House was held on Friday, December 4 and Saturday, December 5 at the Regional Arts Center in downtown Texarkana. The annual event offered a one-of-a-kind shopping experience with unique, handmade goods from local and regional artisans.
Fan Fare Gifts held its Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday, December 5. They had selfies with Santa and Mrs. Claus, reindeer adoptions, refreshments and holiday shopping.
Thursday, November 5, Joseph Raymond hosted "10 Artists-1 Night Only" at the beautiful Omega Building in downtown Texarkana. Local collectors and art lovers joined area artists Ryan Schimidt, Polly Cook, Tyler Arnold, Chris Thomas, Jon Welborn, Jess Weiner, Holly Perez, James Hayes, and Allan Phillips for Raymond's annual showcase of incredible Arklatex talent. It was a great night with a variety of works including paintings, sculpture, blown glass, pottery and more!
