2022 Miss Texarkana Twin Rivers Pageants
The first Miss America Competition was held in 1921 on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It would be just 11 years later when the first Miss Texarkana would grace that same boardwalk to compete for the coveted title. And for 90 years, the Miss Texarkana Twin Rivers Organization has continued the legacy.
The mission of Miss America, Miss Texas/Arkansas, and our program is to prepare great women for the world and the world for great women. We are able to accomplish this mission by providing scholarships to women between the ages of 12-26, opportunities to serve their local communities, and by empowering our titleholders to pursue their greatest aspirations.
This past summer I, along with my daughter Catey Lindsey, were named the directors of the local organization. Catey spent five years competing, and she had the opportunity to speak with thousands of students and adults on the topics of bullying and fire safety. During that time, she was awarded approximately $30,000 in scholarships. Our hope is to continue to extend the same opportunity to many others.
This year’s competition will be held on February 27 at 5:00 pm at Arkansas High School. The miss candidates will compete in interview, talent, red carpet, onstage question and social impact pitch, while the teen’s areas of competition include interview, talent, lifestyle and fitness, evening gown and onstage question. We will crown two teens and two miss candidates for Texas and one teen and one miss for Arkansas. We will accept applicants through February 21. In addition to participants, we are also looking for sponsors to assist with the titleholder’s journey throughout their year of service.
