Haven Homes Celebrates 10th Anniversary
Haven Homes Texarkana is a shining example of the power of community to nurture and grow a vision that addresses a critical need. Through the faith and generosity of the TXK community as well as loyal friends of the Haven Homes ministry, this faith-based and community-driven recovery program has evolved into a pillar for addiction recovery in NE Texas. Since its launch in 2013, the ministry has grown from one modest transition home for women into a comprehensive program for both men & women, with four facilities serving dozens who seek freedom from alcoholism and addiction. Haven Homes will celebrate their 10-year Anniversary on October 12th with a Celebration Dinner and fundraiser at the Texarkana Arkansas Convention Center at 6:00 pm. Please join us!
Founder and Executive Director Jeni Eldridge reflected upon milestones in the Haven Homes journey these past ten years:
- 2013: Haven Homes was formed as a 501c3 non-profit to reach those struggling with alcohol and drug addiction.
- 2013 & 2015: Our first two transitional homes were opened for women graduating from the Bowie County Women’s Center, a (state) rehabilitation program. Since that time, we have served approximately 500 women in transition.
- 2019: Haven Homes opened a 44-bed men’s facility located at the corner of 7th St and Lake Drive. Over 250 men have been served by the program.
- 2020: Haven Homes Resale opened in the former Bryce’s Cafeteria location, providing support and work experience for program residents.
- 2022: Haven Homes opened a temporary home for women struggling with addiction/alcoholism. We have remained at capacity in that home since the first month of opening.
- 2023: We will break ground on a new Haven Home for Women (HHFW), which will house 25-30 women.
The Haven Homes ministry includes a 44-bed men’s program, two women’s transition homes, and the newly opened Haven Homes for Women (HHFW). The HHFW program serves women struggling with addiction who come to Haven directly off the streets, from jail/prison, or other desperate circumstances such as trafficking or abuse. HHFW opened in November 2022 in a temporary 6-bed home and was at capacity within weeks. Through the generosity of Haven Homes’s faithful supporters, funds were raised to build a 25-bed women’s home with ground-breaking planned for late 2023.
Haven Homes is committed to seeking and serving those trapped in the struggle and chaos of addiction. Hundreds of families have found hope and healing through the Haven Homes program. Please join us on October 12th to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. Tickets ($25) and sponsorships are available (see below). WE DO RECOVER!
