Forever Young at Dermatology Associates prides itself on being Texarkana’s only “all-inclusive skincare destination.” Whether you are concerned with an irregular mole, a rash, rosacea, acne, fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, or any other skin condition, Forever Young is well-equipped to meet your needs. Our team of skincare specialists is led by board-certified dermatologist Dr. Jeff Young and includes licensed aestheticians Kelsey Cowan and Angela Poindexter.
Before opening the doors of our medical spa, one of our most important decisions was to find a trusted and proven line of medical-grade skincare to offer our clients. After much research, we chose ZO® Skin Health, launched in 2007 and founded by world-renowned dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi. The use of medical-grade skincare products is always the first step in any of our client treatment plans. Many ask why “medical grade” skincare is so important. The primary reason is the high-quality, prescription-grade ingredients. Additionally, these products have a much longer shelf life, a higher concentration, and better penetration qualities than over-the-counter products.
ZO® follows a three-step process in developing a personalized skin care regimen. This philosophy is that healthy skin always begins with the basics. This first step of bringing skin back to its healthiest state is called “GETTING SKIN READY” (or GSR) and involves cleansing, exfoliating, and toning. We carry a variety of GSR products and will develop a regimen for a client’s specific skin needs. This GSR step is recommended for every client that we see. Once this first basic step is implemented, we will then move on to steps two and three, which are PROTECT and CORRECT.
Many fail to realize that our number one anti-aging tool is the daily application of sunscreen, which brings us to step two of our recommended skincare regimen—PROTECT. At Forever Young, we carry ZO® sunscreen as well as EltaMD sunscreen. Every person, regardless of skin type, should wear sunscreen as no one is exempt from the effects of sun damage. The obvious need for sunscreen is the prevention of skin cancer. The less obvious reason is that it is the very best way to maintain younger looking skin.
The final step in our skincare analysis is to determine what ZO® products are needed to CORRECT skin damage that has already occurred. This step will vary from person to person, but we carry a wide variety of products that will address any skin problem or concern. At Forever Young, we sell all ZO® products individually but also offer starter “kits” (which generally last three months) and are a good way for first-time users to try out the products without purchasing them in full size. As with all of our products, the kits are personalized for skin type and concerns.

In addition to our medical-grade skincare, Forever Young also offers a variety of services that, when utilized in combination with our products, will provide the best results. One of our most popular services is a dermaplane in combination with a hydrafacial. While most clients schedule a dermaplane to remove the unwanted vellus hair (or peach fuzz) from the face, chin, and neck areas, it provides many more benefits, including brighter and smoother skin, softening of fine lines and wrinkles, and allows for deeper penetration of products. Most clients follow up a dermaplane with a hydrafacial that utilizes a revolutionary three-step process of cleansing, extracting, and hydrating. Our aestheticians can add a personalized booster with ingredients to target and treat specific concerns for even better results.
For those looking for a more aggressive way to treat skin anywhere on the body, we recommend BroadBand Light (BBL®) from Sciton. This new laser device allows our providers to treat dozens of skin conditions, including signs of aging such as age spots, freckles, and sun damage, small vessels, active acne, excess hair, and even loose or sagging skin. BBL® has been described by many in the industry as “IPL on steroids.” One of the greatest benefits of BBL® is the “no downtime” aspect of the procedure.
