Compassion and Purpose
I am Shaqueta Michel'le Henry (born July 15, 1985), a dedicated and passionate professional in criminal justice since 2005. My journey in this field has been deeply fulfilling, fueled by my unwavering commitment to helping individuals navigate the complexities of addiction and the criminal justice system.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice Administration/ Management and will obtain a master's in Addiction Counseling by the end of 2024 from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. I have built a solid foundation of knowledge that enhances my practice. I am also a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC-1), which allows me to provide essential support and guidance to those grappling with substance use issues. My experience reflects my commitment to continuous learning and my desire to stay abreast of the best practices in the field.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with diverse populations, each presenting their own unique challenges and strengths. My approach is rooted in empathy, understanding, and respect for each individual's story. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel empowered to share their experiences and begin their healing journeys.
I believe that the intersection of criminal justice and substance abuse is a critical area that deserves focused attention. Many of my clients have faced legal challenges that are exacerbated by their struggles with addiction. It has become my mission to bridge the gap between these two fields, advocating for approaches prioritizing rehabilitation over punishment. I am particularly passionate about developing comprehensive treatment plans that address both the psychological and sociological aspects of addiction, recognizing that healing is a multifaceted process that requires a holistic approach.
In my practice, I employ evidence-based strategies and therapeutic techniques at an outpatient clinic in Texarkana, Texas, designed to foster resilience and promote recovery. I work collaboratively with clients to identify their goals, strengths, and areas for growth. By instilling hope and building coping skills, I aim to empower individuals to reclaim control over their lives.
In addition to my counseling work, I am actively involved in community outreach and education initiatives. I believe that raising awareness about the realities of substance abuse and its impact on families and communities is crucial. I often attend and participate workshops and seminars to educate both the public and my peers, sharing insights on best practices, emerging trends, and the importance of a compassionate approach to recovery.
Outside of my professional life, I strongly advocate for self-care and personal development with my two beautiful babies and mother. I recognize the importance of maintaining balance and finding joy in every aspect of life. Whether it's through reading, spending time with loved ones, or engaging in physical activity, I prioritize activities that foster my well-being, which ultimately enhances my capacity to support others.
I am deeply grateful for the work that I do and the lives I have the privilege of touching. Every day presents a new opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to the betterment of those around me. My journey continues, fueled by a desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals struggling with addiction and navigating the complexities of the criminal justice system. Together, we can work towards a future where recovery is not just a goal but a reality for all.
