Hannah and Dylan Martin Wedding
Q. How did you meet?
A. Dylan and I met at a church retreat in 2013. It took us a few years to get in contact with each other and officially start dating, but I had a major crush right from the start!
Q. What drew you to each other?
A. Once Dylan and I really started getting to know each other, I loved how genuine he was. He’s one of the most thoughtful and nicest people I’ve met; and that’s what really drew me to him. As our relationship progressed, we realized we both shared the same morals and values, and we each had big plans for our future. I feel that we both have a level head and communicating with each other has always come naturally.
Q. Tell us about the proposal.
A. Dylan planned a surprise engagement in December 2020. Our original engagement day got pushed back a few weeks. On the day it was supposed to happen, there was a surprise engagement party planned for our families, but COVID had different plans. Dylan and I tested positive for Covid the night before the original date of our engagement. A few weeks later, it finally happened! I was told there were family pictures scheduled. Dylan took me to the spot we had first met in 2013. At first, I hadn’t recognized the location. But during the proposal, I finally realized where we were and completely lost it! It made that day much more special knowing he put so much thought into it.
Q. Tell us about your wedding party. Who was in it and why?
A. We had a large wedding party… nine bridesmaids and nine groomsmen. We had family, friends we grew up with and girls I went to nursing school with! We are both so blessed with so many great friends, and every single one of them made our day even more special and so much fun!
Q. What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
A. My favorite part of the wedding day was the firework show our families surprised us with at the end of the night. Dylan and I had no idea it was going to happen, so it was a sweet surprise during our big exit!
Q. Were there any unique challenges when planning your wedding?
A. I think the major unique challenge during wedding planning was worrying about COVID. I always worried that our photographer, caterer, makeup/hair stylist, etc. would test positive and not be able to make it on wedding day. I prayed every night! Luckily, everything turned out perfectly.
Q. Did you go on a honeymoon? Where?
A. Dylan and I went to Scottsdale, Arizona for our honeymoon! The honeymoon was probably the hardest thing to plan. We were concerned about COVID and didn’t want to have to quarantine, so we kept it simple. Scottsdale was amazing, though! Even though it was extremely hot, it was such a fun time!
Q. What makes your love story special?
A. One thing that makes our love story so special is that we’ve known each other for so long; and we are high-school sweethearts! We were long distance for most of our dating life, so we only saw each other one or two times a month. We faced many challenges with that but overcame them all and couldn’t be happier now!
Q. What about your life together are you most excited about?
A. Dylan and I have wanted to travel for so long. With our flexible schedules, we are excited to travel with each other and make lifelong memories together!
