TSO Bunel Celebrity Conductor Fundraiser
Dr. Kirby Bunel held a fundraiser on Thursday, November 10, 2022, to help raise money for the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra's 12th Annual Celebrity Conductor Competition. The evening was held at the home of Jennifer and Darby Doan and included an Elvis look-alike contest. This year’s competitors include Amber Adams, Director of Partnership Development for the Texarkana USA Chamber of Commerce; Dr. Kirby Bunel, D.D.S, a local Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon; Brian Matthews, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Management at Texas A&M University—Texarkana; and Robin Proctor, a longtime local arts volunteer and philanthropist. The winning Celebrity will conduct Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson, at the Orchestra’sChristmas at the Perot concert on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at 4:00 PM.
The primary purposes of the Competition are to raise awareness of the TSO within the community, broaden the orchestra’s audience base, and raise vitally important funds to support the mission of the Orchestra. Orchestras throughout the United States hold such competitions, however, TSO’s is among the longest-running and most successful, raising over $50,000 annually.
The community is encouraged to vote to support their favorite candidate(s)—supporting TSO in the process. Each vote is $20, and you can vote for as many candidates as you choose as many times as you wish.
